Resource Roundup- For Patients
Dr. Jonas guided the creation of “The Caregivers Companion: Self-care for Health in Mind, Body and Spirit,” to provide a road map for military caregivers as they journey toward healthier lives.
Created by a team of military caregivers and health experts, it provides a whole-person look at the particular challenges caregivers face as they surround and support a wounded, injured or disabled service member or veteran. Roles include being a husband or wife, parent or child, friend, relative, neighbor or acquaintance.
Caregivers often hear that it’s important to take care of themselves. But for caregivers who spend so much time and effort caring for someone else, it can be a challenge to find realistic self-care options that work for them and their family.
The guidebook will help to support all military caregivers no matter their relationship to the person they are caring for or when they served. This includes husband and wives, parents and children, friends, relatives, and acquaintances. “The Caregivers Companion” is designed for all who provide care.
